January 2023 - After three months of trekking in Nepal and scuba diving in Thailand, I’ve returned to Eugene, Oregon, to finish degrees in Journalism, with a minor in Science Communication, and Spatial Data Science & Technology (mapping!) at the University of Oregon.
In 2022, I spent nine months in the remote, small town of Cordova, Alaska, where I interned as a Science Communication Specialist with the USFS. I paddled down sloughs and hiked local peaks documenting field studies, helping with fieldwork, and telling stories about the Chugach National Forest. From my time on the Chugach, I realized I love the intersection of adventure, science, and culture, and I have since sought to focus on sharing inspiring stories about our world’s amazing people, animals and places.
From photography and film to website design, data visualization and written work, I’m always excited to try new mediums and discover new ways of communicating narrative and synthesizing information on diverse topics, from the political underpinnings of degraded transportation infrastructure to the intricacies of climate change-affected wildfires.
In my free time, I enjoy exploring new tools for visualizing and gathering information, like ArcGIS Pro and FOIA requests, as well as exploring the outdoors trail running, scuba diving, rafting, and peak bagging. I’m currently down a cartography-hole contouring Digital Elevation Models to create laser-cut topography maps of a few peaks-of-interest.
